Have you heard the news? Nixtamal is partnering with Emmanuel's Bakery for a special edition box this November! The box will feature a specialty coffee sample from the local coffee roasting company: Coffee Crafters. You can learn more about their story on their website at www.coffeecraftersbako.com . You will also receive a Nixtamal coffee mug. So, as you drink your delicious coffee you will be reminded that "doing good tastes great." And of course, the November box will also contain a delicious assortment of pan dulce featuring all the hits: concha, marranito, elote and empanadas in calabaza, crema, piña, manzana, guava! We are very excited to be partnering with this East Bakersfield business, Emmanuel's Bakery. Marcial Laguna, our new baker and owner of the panaderia, believes in the Nixtamal mission....
Kinley is a local designer that has lived in Bakersfield her whole life. Her father had a well known sign company in town for many years and so she carries on that passion for design. Three years ago she started a BAKO line of merchandise representing our great city of Bakersfield.
April's pastry box will feature a handmade item by Jocelyn Dimaya-Thurley.
Jocelyn Dimaya-Thurley is an artist and designer who grew up in East Bakersfield. She specializes in sewing and making block printed goods. Aside from carving blocks and sewing handmade products, Jocelyn hosts workshops where she teaches these skills to others!

What's in the box? Each month the Nixtamal Pastry Box will feature an assortment of unique pastries. Nixtamal proudly partners with the Bakersfield College Culinary Arts Program and the Renegade Room to create these delicious items. Chef Marah Meek, faculty in the Bakersfield College Culinary Arts Program, is the creative mind behind the Nixtamal flavor. The flour sack towel featured in this month’s box was handmade by Nanette Art and Design. We are so happy to have her join our Nixtamal Community of Artisans! The towel was custom designed by Nanette for our very first pastry box. Inspired by our Nixtamal message, the towel features a rising golden sun and a growing corn stock.
Nanette is an artist of many talents. She is a designer, illustrator, fabricator and curates a boutique of locally sourced items.
